Margin Call-analysis

                                            Analysis

Establishing shots which illustrates the surrounding. Furthermore, it also illustrates to the viewer/audience what the video/drama/film is going to be about.
This mid shot illuminates to the viewer that the situation in the office isn't too good. The man's facial expression comes across as quite frustrated and angry. There are computers in the shot which are part of the Mise-en-Scene.

Pan from the female character through the office. That allows the viewer/audience to see/get to know the surrounding the scene is happening in. Furthermore, the lighting seems quite dull and blues are overtaking. The use of cold colours has a negative colour connotation. Blue is cold and dark colours can symbolise mean and evil.
Over the shoulder shot portrays to the audience/viewers that a conversation between a man and two women is going on. Furthermore, the business wear (which is also part of the Mise-en-Scene) illuminates that the meeting is quite serious. This shot is also a mid shot and it portrays the female's emotions

  1. good use of language and connecting the different shot types, mise-en-scene and colour connotations to the meaning behind the shots. More analysis on lighting would be beneficial
